AND THEN THERE'S THE TURDUCKIN

This thing is legend...the Frankenstein of food. But is it really that yummy? I've never had it...but I heard about a Bedouin specialty where you stuff a baby goat into a sheep into a camel and then throw the whole mess in a pit of charcoal, cover it up and cook for a day...then dig it up and feed the tribe. Anybody you know make that for Christmas? Or Ramadan?

clipped from bostonfoodandwhine.blogspot.com

I'm watching America Eats on the History Channel.
How much icing does it take to make a Gingerbread Manwhich?

I found this link to Pierre A Lamielle's site Kitchenscraps-his illustrations are comic but the recipes are no joke. I've been inspired to create my own 'Gingerbread Metropolis' at an upcoming holiday party. At Kitchen Arts we've got loads of surly 4.5" Gingerbread Man cookie cutters which I think could result in some Arnold "Governator" caliber cookies ( should I add gumdrop biceps?)

We stock over 30 assorted holiday cutters-plenty of fodder for all the gingerbread meyhem an imagination can express. Holiday cutters retail between $.95 and $1.95.

clipped from foodgawker.com

When the weather gets cold (today it's 24F here in Boston) we start selling lots of raclette grills...well, maybe not lots...but more than we do in July. Raclette is an alpen treat kinda like fondue in that it's melted cheese you cook and eat at the table with friends and family, see the vid above (I found the vid online, it's in French!). You melt the Raclette cheese in the little individual holders, and you cook veggies and sausage on the hot plate above. Add a little bread, wine and beer into the mix and you've got a party...er..soiree. KitchenArts carries Swissmar's 8 person raclette (same as the one in the video), $99.95.

Holidays with Kitchen Arts: More Green than Red

A good friend is only giving reusable shopping bags for Christmas this year. It got me thinking about 'green gifts' for the kitchen. Wondering if maybe compost kits were too radical for all my loved ones, I wanted to find a gift more traditional yet still eco-friendly. At Kitchen Arts we have tea infusers by Tovolo- made of durable polycarbonate and stainless steel, they are a great 'green gift'. Throw in some loose tea or a spill-proof travel mug and you've got a present any pal would love. These tea infusers are dishwasher safe, easy to use, and come in either green or red. They retail for $11.95. Click here to order.

clipped from store.kitchenarts.biz

This is one of those items that when I first saw it I said to myself: "who needs another garlic gadget?" But then I used it. Chopped garlic is so much better than the smushed, juiced pulp that comes out of a garlic press. Of course, chopping garlic can be a messy proposition, and that's where the Garlic Zoom comes in. Open, fill with peeled garlic cloves, roll it back and forth on the counter to chop up the garlic---you're done! Available online for $9.95
